After the technology was decided upon, I looked at the design. Going back to my idea for the project on visualising data on a global scale I felt having a map in the background was essential. Instead of putting a live map on the project, for example Google Maps, I decided to just use an image.
Since I was using Twitter to visualise my data, I decided that using Twitter’s own colours in my design was essential. I took the Twitter logo and directly copied the slight blue gradient from the bird on the logo and used it as a background for the countries. I then decided upon a black background behind it to contrast the lighter blue colour.
